2019 Message from the president

Greetings Fellow Democrats: I am truly honored to have been elected by our Board to follow Larry Buxbaum as President. Larry's resignation was not due to health or other issues, but rather to have more time to spend with his wife Linda and family (No really!). Larry agreed to stay on as President into the new Board term to help guide us in revising our Bylaws. That having been accomplished, he felt that he could turn leadership over to a new President. So when you see Larry be sure to thank him for all that he has done in leading us in unprecedented growth in membership of Sun City Democrats Club. We also give thanks to the Board members who stepped down at the end of the 2017-2018 term, Phyllis Vogel who long served as Secretary and Arne Schonberger, who served as communications Chair. Succeeding them on the Board are Mary Siska as Secretary and Catherine Morales as Communications Chair. We thank them all for stepping up and serving. Paula Mulhearn will be taking over as Activists Chair. Paula has been a lifelong activist. Pat Prudhom as Special Events Chair has organized our participation in the Red Poppy Parade on April 27. Many opportunities remain for members to help us move forward and elect Democrats in 2020. Especially needed are those with computer skills to assist our Board members by serving on committees. We also are in need of a Program Chair to plan speakers for our monthly meetings. It's really not that difficult a task – even I did it for two years, so it can't be that hard! |
We urge you to step up and help us with our mission. Please contact either me or one of the Committee Chairs to volunteer at suncitydems.org. Soon we will be surveying our members to see how we are faring in meeting your expectations and learning your thoughts as we move forward toward the 2020 election.
